TBS Holdings, Inc. (“TBS HD”), the parent company of THE SEVEN (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President &amp; CEO: Ryujiro Abe), has entered into a strategic partnership with Legendary Entertainment (“Legendary”), a world-class film studio headquartered in Hollywood. As part of the agreement, TBS HD has acquired a minority stake in Legendary for $150 million. As a studio driving the TBS Group’s global strategy, THE SEVEN will work closely with Legendary—a studio that has built and expanded globally renowned blockbuster franchises such as Dune, the Monsterverse series, and Minecraft—to strongly advance the creation of entertainment that captivates audiences worldwide. Under the partnership, the parties have agreed to continuously co-develop multiple projects based on Japanese IP, with THE SEVEN taking a leading role. Legendary’s expertise in development, production, and marketing will be combined with the TBS Group’s long-standing reputation and trusted position in the Japanese market to bring Japanese-originated stories to global audiences. Legendary has already produced numerous projects based on Japanese IP and has positioned THE SEVEN and the TBS Group as an ideal partner aligned with its long-term strategy to expand its presence beyond Japan. At the same time, Legendary highly values the TBS Group’s long-standing network within Japan’s creative industry, as well as its proven ability to collaborate with publishers, IP holders, and creators. This partnership represents an important step in Legendary’s broader strategy to expand its business with key local partners rooted in IP-rich markets. It also supports the TBS Group’s strategy to extend its content production capabilities beyond Japan in order to globally exploit its content and intellectual property, with THE SEVEN playing a central role in advancing this initiative. A special two-night drama, “Chapter: Youthful Days in Edo,” will air on terrestrial television on March 26 and 27, with streaming on U-NEXT available after each broadcast. This project will be the first live-action adaptation based on the popular manga, “Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem&quot; which features powerful artwork and overwhelming drawing skill by Eiji Hashimoto, and is based on a story by Shinya Umemura (also known for “Record of Ragnarok&quot;). Set in Kyoto at the end of the Edo period (Bakumatsu), the story depicts the intense and passionate lives of the Shinsengumi, the strongest samurai group, through spectacular action and a bold interpretation based on historical facts. It has been officially confirmed that the special drama &quot;Chapter: Youthful Days in Edo&quot; will air over two consecutive nights on Thursday, March 26, and Friday, March 27 on terrestrial TV. Following this, the drama series &quot;Chapter: Fateful Showdown in Kyoto&quot; will be available exclusively on U-NEXT, with new episodes streaming every Friday. Since the project was first announced last October 4, social media has been flooded with fans eagerly awaiting the release dates and now, the full scope of the project has finally been revealed. In “Did Someone Happen to Mention Me?”, the story follows Gen Takasegawa (Koji Yakusho), a once world-renowned stage actor attempting a comeback. Set in the tumultuous Bakumatsu period—an era as turbulent as the present day—the story follows young men who lived fiercely and met their end amid the chaos of history. Their lives are portrayed through themes of friendship, bonds, conviction, and betrayal. At the helm of the production is Akira Morii of THE SEVEN as Chief Producer — whose credits include globally successful projects such as Netflix’s Alice in Borderland and the worldwide hit adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho. Producers Mamoru Inoue and Kazuya Shimomura (THE SEVEN) also join the producing team. Directing is Kazutaka Watanabe, known for his work on NHK’s taiga drama Onna Jōshu Naotora, the morning drama series Mare, and the Kishibe Rohan Does Not Move series; Watanabe is widely respected for his meticulous pursuit of realism and tension and enjoys great trust from performers. In Chiruran, the characters portrayed by these two actors play an exceptionally important role in conveying both the way of life and the deaths of the Shinsengumi. Meru Nukumi’s honest, unadorned performance and her straightforward gaze perfectly embodied Makoto, a woman in relentless pursuit of the truth. In contrast, Akira Emoto conveyed—through his very presence—the solitude and quiet acceptance of one who survived. The performances of Nukumi, fresh and vibrant, and the veteran Emoto, coming together across generations, have transformed the story of Hijikata and the Shinsengumi into a universal tale that can be passed down through time. When I first received the offer, I actually asked the producer, &quot;Are you sure I&apos;m the right casting choice?&quot;…But taking on the role of Izo Okada allowed me to spend time in a way that was incredibly intense, yet also somehow fleeting and ephemeral. Now, I truly feel grateful that, as Kento Nakajima, I had the chance to encounter and portray the role of Izo Okada. In particular, I had excellent chemistry with Yamada-kun, who plays Toshizo. Perhaps because our &apos;wavelengths&apos; aligned when we crossed swords, I felt like I could see Toshizo even when he wasn&apos;t there, allowing me to deliver a performance that was absolutely true to my heart. I believe I was able to portray the most lovable Izo in a way that only I could. If you don&apos;t watch &quot;Chiruran&quot;, I won&apos;t forgive you, ze yo!

Within the Mibu Roshigumi, the “Serizawa Faction,” led by Kamo Serizawa, emerges as the greatest enemy of Hijikata and the Kondo faction. 制作陣には、Netflix『今際の国のアリス』シリーズ、『幽☆遊☆白書』を世界的ヒットに導いたTHE SEVENの森井輝がチーフプロデューサーとして指揮を執り、井上衛、下村和也（THE SEVEN）もプロデューサーに名を連ねる。監督はNHK大河ドラマ『おんな城主 直虎』をはじめ、連続テレビ小説『まれ』、『岸辺露伴は動かない』シリーズ などを手掛け、細部にこだわるリアリティと緊張感を追求する演出力で出演者からの絶大な信頼を誇る渡辺一貴が務め、脚本は『絶対零度～特殊犯罪潜入捜査～』（CX）シリーズ、映画『ケイコ　目を澄ませて』など話題作を多く手掛けてきた酒井雅秋ら日本の映像業界の第一線で活躍する制作スタッフが集結。 　かつてないスケールで贈る “ジャパニーズ・ソードアクション・エンターテインメント”には、今後も主演級俳優が名を連ね、若手俳優から名バイプレイヤーなど旬な俳優陣も発表となる。どのキャラクターを誰が演じるのか予想して、続報を楽しみにお待ちいただきたい。
